BHASKAR JYOTI BORAH
The present age is an age of
competition. Competition with each other; competition to get a step ahead than
the others to realize goals; competition to secure more marks in
examination; competition to get the top positions in every field; and
competition to make oneself the best. In this competitive age, all the people
are in a race. While running the race they used to forget their health,
relationships and even sometimes the direction. While running the race and
looking forward they used to miss many opportunities which were lying behind.
They become machines in a human body.
And they began to lose gradually the peace of mind, happiness, health
and relationships which are very vital for survival.
Competition
gives birth to stress:
Competition now a days is becoming a habit in the lives of the people. The root of competition is comparison. It is comparison that gives birth to competition. And it is
competition which is the origin of many evils in our society. It gives birth
to stress. Competition in one field leads to competition in other fields simultaneously. First
competition may begin for a just cause and then it spreads to others and
occupies every field of human heart and mind. It breeds jealousy, enmity and
hatredness. A long practice of competition to achieve goals unknowingly
develops these vices which becomes firmly rooted in character. And the result is
whatever activity or work is done is not out of love or devotion but only for the sake of
leaving others behind. Therefore even after achieving their goals people are
not actually happy.
Follow
your Direction:
Therefore in this writing I want to
focus on a very important thought i.e. 'direction is more important than speed'.
In competition we give more importance to speed. We want to move very fast. But
you must move in a direction which will lead you not only achieving your goals
but also peace of mind, sound health and happiness. When you move in a
direction, you are definitely going to reach it. Competition comes to
existence because of the time factor only. We want to achieve things before someone
or better than someone before a particular time limit. What is then the solution?
Follow
your natural rhythm:
The solution is to follow your natural rhythm. Speed is important when the goal is
time bound. But the speed must be determined by you. The speed should be your
natural rhythm and not an enforced one. Do not follow the speed of other
people. Find your natural speed and follow it. Follow it with all your love and
devotion. Gather all your enthusiasm together, channelize your energy and put it into your work without any competition. Follow your natural rhythm and enjoy the journey to your goal. Celebrate
every single moment of your life and feel the distance to your goal lessening
spontaneously.
Transform
Competition to devotion:
When you work not out of
competition but out of devotion, your life will take a different turn. You will
enjoy happiness every moment. You will develop a pleasant personality. You will
experience good health. You will experience freedom everywhere. You will become
more creative and innovative. More importantly you will realize your true
potential. But in competition you do not have time to think. You remained busy
maintaining the speed. You remained busy in comparing. Out of stress sometimes
you may experience even ill health basically when you have to appear an
examination or interview or any other projects that you want to complete before
time. Do not run after success. Run after excellence. Master excellence and
success will run after you. Excellence can’t be mastered by competition. It can
only be acquired by devotion and dedication. Moreover it is devotion that gives
birth to LOVE. And when love occupy your body, mind and soul nothing else is
required. You will feel complete every moment.
Remain on your path:
You have to be focused. Always concentrate on your goal and
follow your actions and plans earnestly to reach your goal. Don’t deviate. Don’t
deviate from your true path. If you miss the direction, you will miss your goal. If
you change your direction, again you have to start a new journey. You have to
start from ‘ZERO’. Therefore don’t leave your path. Decide it wisely. Do whatever you need to do
on a daily basis. Sooner or later you are bound to reach your goal.
