LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS DANGEROUS
BHASKAR JYOTI BORAH
One of the most
obvious reasons for failure is ‘little knowledge’. Failure is nothing but only
possession of little knowledge. Little knowledge misleads people. It may lead
you to false knowledge. Ask any failure and you will get the answer. Little
knowledge never creates destiny. Knowledge is the only master that leads you
towards your destiny. Successful people are occupying their positions on
account of only their knowledge, intelligence and the fruitful application of
their knowledge in their respective fields. If you want to become an achiever,
knowing little will never help you. Therefore don’t satisfy yourself with
little knowledge.
Little knowledge is accompanied
by impatience, improper attention, unnecessary worry about the future, thinking
more about the result than the work, self-doubts, lack of faith in oneself and
the work etc. If we can remove these vices from us and cultivate among us the
virtues by which we can acquire more knowledge, then we can definitely become
successful in our lives.
You are
suffering from serious ailments and visiting a doctor, and the doctor knows
little about your treatment. Will you go forward for treatment? You need
knowledge about a particular subject or topic and you approached a teacher, but
he knows little on the subject. Will you be able to learn? You want to go to a
hilly station on a car and the driver is a learner. Will you board his car?
Will you be able to reach your destination in that car? The answer will be a
definite ‘no.’ Nobody will be willing to take these risks. If you cannot put
your faith upon those persons who knows little and in your own life also you
become one of them, how will you consider yourself – as a Successful person?
Can little learning or half knowing be justified? If your answer is ‘NO’ then
the solution is ‘KNOW IT FULLY’. Whatever you know, know it fully. Give your full
heart and mind to your learning. Don’t put your half heart to work. Work wholeheartedly. Concentration is therefore of tremendous importance. Do
your jobs well, know it properly.
The primary job of a student is to
study. If you study your subjects thoroughly not to secure only good marks but
also get the right and proper knowledge then you will become successful in your
life. No recruiter will recruit a fool. A fool is a burden of the family, of
the society and of the country as well. They lack sense, direction and purpose
of life. Half knowing ultimately makes you fool.
Leave no stone unturned to know
your job. Then you will master it. When you master it, you will be sought
urgently in your required field. Then wherever you may remain, people will find
you, they will come only to you and success will run after you.
Don’t
imitate others:
Don’t dig
shallow pits here and there. You will not get water. Dig a pond and you will
get water for your whole life – says Swami Sivananda. If you know little, you
will be a follower. You will imitate others who know more than you. In that you
lose your originality. You lose your true potential. You sacrificed
your life for the lack of knowledge. It was with you whole the way but you
failed to understand it. You failed to understand as you paid only half of your
attention. It is very risky. Be conscious. Be conscious in doing things in the
right manner. Doing things only in the desired manner will bring success. Don’t
be impatient. The new generation learners are bit impatient. They want
everything very fast. But REMEMBER, speed is as important as the right
direction. Little bit of patience will keep you on the track and lead you to
your destiny.
Don’t
find shortcuts:
There is no shortcut
to success. The only way to heaven is through the hell. Struggle, hard work,
persistence, patience are the qualities which can only give you FULL KNOWLEDGE.
If you find a short cut, you compromise with your learning. Therefore short
cuts are the most dangerous cuts. You can save time through shortcuts but you
will lose your destiny.
Don’t
run away from risks:
A person who is
willing to bear the pain only can make a gain. A person who takes risk only can
achieve. If you run away from risks, if you want only to enjoy the fruits of
your work ignoring the roots, the building upon which you want to stand will
crash down. Therefore control your negative emotions. Face your fears. Without
fighting your fears you cannot get victory. Therefore challenge yourself on a
daily basis. Challenge your fears. Become a victor. Do not become a victim.
PRACTICAL
TIPS:
1. Practice Concentration:
It is concentration that helps you to remain focussed. If you cannot
concentrate properly, you cannot learn and understand. Therefore practice
concentration. The best way to practice concentration is to give your 100
percent attention to what you do. Whatever you do, engage your mind and heart
upon it. Then you will develop your concentration.
You can also study a paragraph from a book and practice reproducing it
in the same manner. When you will be able to reproduce it with 100% accuracy,
you will be successful in developing concentration. Begin with simple quotes
and gradually increase your capacity from small paragraphs to bigger
paragraphs. Move slow and steady. Practice only once a day. That is enough.
Don’t practice for very longer duration.
2. Study Books thoroughly:
Don’t pick up a book to study unless and until you finish the one that
you are studying. Don’t proceed to the next paragraph until and unless you have
understood the first paragraph. This practice is very effective to develop
proper knowledge. It eradicates impatience and develops concentration
gradually.
3. Do one work at a Time:
Don’t take up another work unless you finish the one in hand. Find ways,
innovate to make the work more interesting. Work for the sake of the work only.
Give your full heart to your work.
4. Know your area of interest:
Define your areas and work with them. Don’t change to other areas unless
you master the previous ones.
5. Don’t develop many hobbies:
Stick to one or two hobbies. Otherwise your hobbies will distract you.
Studies reveal that too many hobbies and extra-curricular activities do more
harm than good. To learn thoroughly you need concentration. To concentrate
properly you must not be distracted.
6. Don’t worry about your future:
Avoid wrong imaginations about your future. Develop positive thinking
and belief. Imagine that you are going to be a very successful person in your
life. You are going to lead an abundant, happy, rich and fuller life.
7. Live in the solid present:
Pay attention to your allotted works in your allotted time. Your future
is not shaped in the coming days but right now at this moment. What you do now
at this moment determines your future. It is how you spend the present moment
that determines your future. Therefore live wisely. Focus on your work in hand.
8. Develop patience:
To develop more patience in you, ‘practice patience.’ Start practicing
patience on a regular basis. Practice drawing scenery, listening to music,
playing chess or any other games, physical exercises and reading a book that is
not interesting. Engage yourself in any work that requires patience. Patience
is an aid to concentration. Concentration in turn helps in understanding things
thoroughly.
9. Prepare your Life’s list:
Write down all your wishes that you want to fulfill in your life. When
you write down your wishes and set time to accomplish, it becomes your goal.
Than work on each one of them one by one. Gain more knowledge on each of your
works that need to be done to fulfill your wishes or to accomplish your goals.
The more you work, the more you know; the more you know, the more you
accomplish.
REMEMBER, it is better to know one thing
properly than having little knowledge of many things.
