BHASKAR JYOTI BORAH
Practice makes perfect. All theories are
meaningless without practices. Knowledge without practice is not power; it
becomes a liability. Those People only become successful in their lives, who act
upon their goals to achieve them. Other people’s goals are mere wishes. They do
not take actions. They do not have right practices in their lives. The difference between a successful person and an unsuccessful person is nothing but of practices. Without practices there is no progress. Determination of the right Goals
followed by the right actions to realize them only will bring results. Here I
am going to write about Ten Practices, which if you practice on a daily basis
can transform your life and will take you to the next higher level of
achievement and fulfilment.
i)
Read your goals daily in the Morning:
You
can’t hit a target which is unseen. You can’t achieve anything in your life, if
you do not decide what to achieve. Therefore first you need to determine and
decide your goals. Determine your Goals categorically - Financial Goals,
Relationship Goals or Social Goals, Spiritual Goals and other Material Goals. After
setting your goals wisely, develop an Action Plan to achieve them. Never change
your goals if you confront obstacles. Find all possible ways to achieve them
and read the list of your goals daily once in the morning.
ii)
Plan
your day/week/years:
You
always need to act in relation to your goals. All your actions must take you
towards your goals. Therefore you need to be specific. You must know what you
are doing, how you are doing and why you are doing. You need to plan your
years, weeks and every single day of your life prioritizing your goals. All the
rest activities should not be prioritized at the cost of the planned
activities. Every morning immediately after leaving your bed write down all the
activities that you need to complete and take actions upon them honestly.
iii)
Live
with your Principles:
Every goal will require certain principles to
be followed. If you go against your principles, you may go away from your
goals. Therefore, decide those principles you need to follow to achieve your chosen goals. Don’t fix initially too many principles to follow. In fact your practices will base upon your principles only. The Principles are your saviour. The more you live with them and internalize them, the more your success will become spontaneous.
iv)
Follow
a daily routine with daily activities:
The secret to success in life lies in our daily routine. Instead of working very hard you can break up your works or activities and carry out a part of your work on a daily basis to the extent of your availability of time and energy and put it in your daily routine. You can also adjust other important daily activities priority wise in your daily routine. If you can choose your daily activities wisely, you can make even the impossible things possible. You will be able to find time for everything. You will be able to manage your time more effectively. Choose at least four or five activities to be carried out on a daily basis. This will help you tremendously to become successful in achieving any goal in your life. However, choose any day in the week to break the routine. Break all the rules voluntarily for a single day in a week and enjoy the freedom from the daily routine. Be FREE, Feel FREE. Allow only freedom and nothing else. Be the king for that day and celebrate. While ending the day remember, tomorrow you have to wake up with the routine. If you break the routine or activities again and begin to celebrate, you will go away from your destiny. If you persist breaking the routine, than remember you will never reach your goals. Conditions will than control you; you will become slave to the conditions and you will not have the power to control your Conditions. To become FREE you have to work incessantly.

Maintain a personal journal and record all
your activities on a daily basis particularly in relation to your goals. What
activities you carried out for the whole day? How have you carried out your activities? What important things you have noticed during the course of the activities? Have you got any useful
information that may help you in the near future? Have you got contact of any
person that can help you to take your life to the next higher level? Jot down all
everything in your personal journal which will help you a lot to maintain
integrity and commitment to your goals and actions.
vi)
Sharpen
your skills:
You need to focus on your skills that are
required to achieve your goals. Find out your potential skills and practice
them every single day of your life. Sharpen them by practicing them to the extent that you become excellent in your skill. When you make yourself excellent in your chosen area, success will run after you. Success will become a spontaneous process to you. There is no short cut to
success. There is no second option to Hard Work. Don't waste your time on finding short cuts. Sharpen your skills to excellence.
vii)
Practice
Virtues:
By
virtues here I mean the ethics that is required to be practiced in every field.
You may need to practice Self Control, Courage, Discipline, and Punctuality in
relation to your goals. If you do not practice them, achieving goals may become
significantly difficult. Tremendous self-control is required to be practiced to keep yourself away from distractions. To practice courage, discipline and punctuality also you need to exert self-control. Self-control is in fact the root of success.
Unless you resolve strongly to achieve
something, you can’t achieve them. Resolutions add tremendous power to our
being. If you are in a habit of procrastinating and you have tried a lot to
free yourself from that habit, simply resolve not to be in that habit for the
next 21 days. If you can become successful for one day, you can continue for the next 21 days; if you can control yourself for the next 21 days, you will be successful
in controlling that habit for your entire life. You can use the
power of resolutions to give up any bad habits and also to form good habits. It will develop your ‘will
power’.
ix)
Practice
Problem Solving:
One
of the essential skill to become successful in your life is problem solving.
Most of the people are escapist. They determine to do something but when they
are confronted with obstacles, they run away from their goals. Please remember, you can’t
achieve something from which you want to escape. You have to conquer your fear and
learn to face the problems and to solve them to go ahead in life. All
successful people are effective problem solvers. Never allow problems to change
your way. Learn to handle problems and create your way. To solve complex
problems you have to be highly intelligent and well-informed. Read books on ‘Reasoning’
and practice them on a daily basis. If possible maintain one ‘Information Diary’.
When other people will be giving up their dreams and desires, you will be able
to create the life you desire by solving the problems that comes your way.
x)
Practice
Surrender:
You
can’t control the result of a work. That is not in your hand. Unless and until
you become the person who you meant to be, Success will not come to you.
Therefore lost yourself in the practices. Enjoy the freedom in your practices
and your daily life. If you are a believer in God, surrender the result of your
works to Him. Let Him decide the result. If you do not believe in God than just
keep the idea of ‘Let it Go’. Give your 1000% to your work. Keep on working and
practicing. Do all the things that is essential and necessary. But free
yourself from getting attached to the result. You will enjoy tremendous Freedom
and Happiness in your life. Your devotion to work will increase.
Benefits of the practices:
Before moving
into acting upon these practices you must find out the rationality of these
practices. You must find out why shall you carry out these practices? Some of
the benefits are:
1. You
will become very specific. There will remain no confusions for you. No
distractions can divert your attention from your goal.
2. You
will become more productive. You will be able to work more in less time. Every
day you will know about the quantity and quality of your work.
3. You
will able to manage your time effectively. You will not be able to engage
yourself in unnecessary activities.
4. You
will never miss any opportunity. You will always know what you need?
5. You
will become a better and happy person.
The Don’ts:
Do
not develop any practices suddenly and introduce it to your daily routine.
First decide why the practice is important for you? Is the practice important for your life? Will it distract you from achieving your goals? Is it
the right time to start the practice? If you start any practice suddenly and
without a valid reason it will only become a ‘time waster’. If you already have
practices, your daily routine may become hectic and that may burn the desire to
continue practicing the other important practices. Therefore the ‘why factor’
is of utmost important to keep yourself motivated and focussed.
