If you don't manage your time productively, you will become instrumental for other people's productivity I mydearstudents.in
Time
is life. Every single second, every single minute, hour, day and year that we
live constitutes our life. Our whole life is limited within a particular frame of
time gifted by God. That’s why our life span is limited and our time frame too
is also limited. When the resource itself is limited, the question of
management arises. We have 24 hours in a day. It is same for all the people who
live in this world. It is by using these 24 hours productively people can become
successful and by wasting it unsuccessful. Therefore, time is everything. As
Brian Tracy said, “Time Management is Life Management.” A person who can master
the art of time management will master his life. By controlling and using your
time productively, you can control and shape your life as you desire. But if
you do not utilize your time effectively, you will become disorganized and
frustrated; you will miss your deadlines for works and may experience undue
stress; and you may also become instrumental in fulfilling the wishes and goals
of other people.
Why Time
Management is Important?
Bad
time management is ranked as the number one factor for failure. Bad time
management not only implies that there is a lack of proper utilization of time and productivity but that may also result in stress, frustration and failure. Failing to manage your time effectively and
productively will lead to:

Performance and Poor Quality Work
3. Poor
Self-esteem

and productively it will enable you to:

your work and Personal life efficiently

your Priorities and Goals and makes your Vision and Mission Specific

requires the fruitful use of time.
Where Your Time goes?:
If
you have the complaint that you don’t know where and how your time goes or you are
struggling to manage your time a lot but it becomes unmanageable then you can take the help of a
Time Log. The Time Log is nothing but the
account of all your daily activities time wise. Prepare a time log starting
from the time you wake up. List all your activities time wise serially for 24
hours. Here is an example of a Time Log:
Time Spent Activities
5:30 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. Waking up from Sleep, washing face
etc.
6:00 A.M. to 6:30 A.M. Going for a Morning Walk
6:30 A.M. to 7:00 A.M Reading the News Paper
7:00 A.M. to 7:15 A.M. Tea Time
7:15 A.M. to 7:45 A.M. Taking Bath
7:45 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. Prayer
8:00 A.M. to ....... Going
to Work etc.
This
list will be continued up to the time you go to your bed for your last activity
of the day that is sleep at night.
After the completion of the time log you will come to know about all your activities properly and also the duration of time you are spending on your
activities on a daily basis. You will also become conscious in doing your
activities which are not very meaningful to you. Your perception and attitude
towards time will change.
The importance of scheduling Your
Activities:
After knowing
your regular activities with the help of your time log, you must make a list of
your desired activities which if you include in your daily routine will create
a massive difference in your productivity. The most important step to become
more productive is to know your desired activities. Your desired activities are
those activities which are determined by your goals. Along the line of your
goals determine your activities on a daily basis, weekly basis, monthly basis
and yearly basis. The list may include activities even for 2 years, five years,
10 years or 15 years depending upon your goals. You may have short term goals
and also long term goals in your life. Therefore determine your activities as
your goals require and break it into several smaller parts. By doing so you can
take action on those activities on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis, to
make yourself more productive.
Use
your Energy Graph:
Humans have a
well-defined internal clock that determines the energy level of a person
throughout the day. This energy level differs from person to person. Some
people are more active during the morning hours, some people in the afternoon
or evening hours. But there are also a group of people who like to work at
night. You have to know and understand your energy level. You have to
understand when your Energy Level is ‘very high’, ‘high’, ‘medium’ or ‘low’.
When you come to know about this, utilize your most energetic period of time in
your most important works that requires high level of concentration. Undertake
different activities as per your list which you can manage with even your
medium and low level of energy.
If
you follow your energy graph, you will accomplish more in less time of work.
You will be working smarter than harder. You will become more productive. You
will become more confident and happy. But if you choose your most important
activity to be carried out in your medium and low energy period, then you will
not be able to concentrate properly in your work. You will have to struggle to
bring back your mind to the work and you may waste some of your time in your
inner struggle. Therefore the first important step for you is to know your most
important daily activities and secondly in which part of the day you will be in
a better position to carry out those activities most productively.
Importance of a Daily Routine:
We are, what we do
repeatedly. When we do things repeatedly it becomes spontaneous. It becomes our
habit, character and destiny. It means that if we carry out certain activities
on a daily basis pertaining to our goals, we can make success a spontaneous process.
Our daily routine therefore is a vital tool for achieving enduring success in
our lives. However daily routine to make a person successful in his life must
be organized and arranged properly to ensure the desired outcome. If a person
earnestly understands the importance of a daily routine and follow it in his
daily life he will get everything that he wants from his life.
After knowing your
activities and your energy levels throughout the day, you need to prepare your
daily routine. You need to follow your activities in the order of your energy
graph. When you fix your time along with the activity, you learn to manage your
time productively. Now repeat the process everyday and become closer to your
goal at the end of every day.
Don’t give up following
your daily routine until and unless you achieve your goal. First you must
achieve your daily goals to realize your ultimate goal. As I have stated before
that your daily routine ensures the break up activities of your main goal to be
performed on a daily basis. Therefore if you can realize your daily goals,
become sure that you can achieve your main goal. Your mind will be wandering
and disturbing you constantly every day, but you have to concentrate and bring
it back to your work. Mind is like a jumping monkey. It will not obey you. But
by using your logic and conscience you can bring it back to normalcy and put it
back to work. At all cost stick to your daily activities and your daily routine
so that you can get everything what you want from your life.
Challenges
of Time Management:
After
fixing your daily routine you will face the real challenges. The real challenge
for you will be following the daily routine. The main enemy of Time Management and following a Daily Routine is procrastination. It may become impossible for you
to follow a daily routine if you do not possess enough self-control and
discipline in your life. Remember, self-control
is the root of success. Without self-control you will lose your direction
in life. Distractions will distract you from your true path and that is why 'Success' is more an 'inner and spiritual game' than a material one. You will lack
courage and integrity to follow your dreams and goals if you lack commitment and personal integrity. For that reason you need to
know your goals specifically, you need to know ‘The Why Factors’
of your goals, you need to know ‘Your Choices’,
so that you can exercise every control to lead yourself towards
your goals by managing your time productively everyday.
